Macaroni Penguin
Eudyptes chrysolophus

First reported on 16 March 2009 from Betty's Bay after which it was collected and transferred to SANCCOB with respiratory problems. This is a different individual to the one recorded at Brandfontein only a couple of weeks prior to this and so represents the 14th record for Southern Africa. The 1st photo was taken on 23 March when the bird was still in moult and the second photo was taken on 7 April after it had completed its moult.

Photographed by Tertius Gous.
