Wedge-tailed Shearwater
Puffinus pacificus

First sighted on Bird Island in Algoa Bay on 14 December 2004. Not seen or heard of again until 29 August 2005 when it was photographed. The bird arrives at dusk and flies about the gannetry quite openly. It calls for extended periods at night often from within a disused outdoor toilet in which there are old cardboard boxes. .

Photographed by Bruce Dyer.
