Wilson's Phalarope
Steganopus tricolor

First reported on 10 January 2005 at Abrahamskraal Water Hole in the West Coast National Park. The bird unfortunately disappeared prior to anybody having the opportunity to twitch it. The last twitchable Wilson's Phalarope was also on the west coast at Paternoster in the late 1980's where a bird returned to some salt pans for several seasons!

Photographed by Jan du Toit.
